    Labor will freeze co-payments for patients taking common medicines from January 1 next year, lowering prices for prescriptions as part of cost-of-living assistance in the budget.

    Instead of rising in line with inflation, the maximum co-payment charged for medicines covered by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) will stay frozen until January 1, 2026 for all Medicare cardholders.
