Shadow of Bob Day clouds building sector as Collier Homes fails again

WA builder Collier Homes went into liquidation this week – for the second time in eight years – after the company previously owned by former Family First senator Bob Day’s Home Australia group pulled the plug, leaving five clients with unbuilt homes.

Second-generation builder Dario Amara, who acquired the brand of the South Perth-based business in 2016 after the liquidation of Mr Day’s building group, called in McGrathNicol liquidators Robert Brauer and Linda Smith this week to the company crunched by rising costs it couldn’t cover.
