    Last weekend the owners of Mascot Towers, the defect-ridden strata block near Sydney Airport, were offered a way out of their financial pain with a plan that represents, for many, a least-worst option.

    To recap, about five years ago all the residents of the 131-unit complex were evacuated and permanently excluded from the building after major cracks and subsidence appeared in critical structural elements.
